Directions from Asheville:
Four-lane route: Take I-26 west out of downtown Asheville. Take exit 19-A towards Marshall and Hot Springs on US 25/70. About one mile after entering Madison County, take a left turn onto Business US 25/70 towards downtown Marshall. At the bottom of the mountain, turn right (north) onto NC 251. Make an immediate left onto the river road (South Main Street). This is marked with a “Downtown” (left arrow) sign. This brings you into the south end of downtown Marshall. After passing through the first light at the post office, you will see Arts Center on the left side of the street. We are right next to the post office. Come on in !
Scenic route: Take Riverside Drive north out of Asheville along the French Broad River. Follow Riverside Drive until it merges with NC HWY 251 north, continuing to run alongside the French Broad River. Take NC 251 into Madison County. Continue along the river for a few miles. Just past the Business US 25/70 intersection, you will turn left towards downtown as described above. Follow those directions from this point.
From Burnsville, Spruce Pine, etc:
Take US-19 south to its intersection with I-26 in Madison County. US-19 merges onto I-26 at this point. Go the next exit, Exit 11, at Mars Hill. At the end of the ramp, turn left onto NC 213. Take NC 213 through downtown Mars Hill and continue on to Marshall, about 10 miles. At the junction where NC 213 merges with US Hwy 25/70 Bypass, continue straight under the US 25/70 overpass and continue down the mountain on Hayes Run. Hayes Run terminates at the French Broad River. Turn right and follow the directions the Arts Center as described above.
From Johnson City, TN area:
Take I-26 east into North Carolina to Exit 11 at Mars Hill. Follow the Burnsville directions from here.
From Newport, TN area:
Take US 25/70 south/east into North Carolina. Follow US 25/70 through Hot Springs and on to Marshall. After the traffic light near Madison Middle School, look for the Business US 25/70 right turn at North Main Street. The Madison County Library sign also marks this intersection. Turn right onto North Main Street and follow down the mountain to the river. This brings you into the north end of downtown. Pass through the light at the courthouse. The Arts Center is on the right before the second light. Come on in!
